Digger: story and trailer overview
The story
The most powerful man in the world launches a frantic attempt to prove he can save humanity from a disaster he has unleashed. Tom Cruise plays the title role in Alejandro G. Iñárritu's Digger.
Why it works
For us, the central irony is compelling: the person claiming to be humanity's savior is also responsible for its danger. The premise makes his desire to prove himself as interesting as the disaster.
What to expect
We would expect the tension between responsibility and self-justification to shape this story. Its premise suggests a desperate effort to avert catastrophe while establishing the protagonist's claim to be a savior.
Our take
We think the collision between immense power and a need for vindication gives Digger a particularly pointed central dilemma.
