Morgon Porterfield Freeman, Jr. popularly known as Morgan Freeman is a famous narrator, actor and television personality. He is well known for his distinctive voice. The popular African American actor is one of the most respected actors in Hollywood.

Morgan Freeman won a Golden Globe Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award. For his best performances on screen he was nominated for the Academy Award for the films Street Smart, Invictus , Driving Miss Daisy and won an Oscar for Million Dollar Baby in 2005 to name a few.

  About Morgan Freeman: Morgan Freeman was born to Mayme Edna and Morgon Porterfield Freeman, Sr., in Memphis, Tennessee in 1937. Freeman was married to Jeanette Adair Bradshaw from October 22, 1967, until 1979. He married Myrna Colley-Lee later in 1984.  

Morgan Freeman as a child had strong fascination for theatre. He was not much interested in academics and athletics. Morgan Freeman also served the Air force for 5 years i.e., from 1955 to 1959.He moved to Los Angeles in the early 1960′s and worked as a transcript clerk in Los Angeles Community College. Healso lived in New York City working as a dancer at the 1964 World’s Fair.

Freeman acted in an off-Broadway production of The Niggerlovers and with Pearl Bailey in an all-African-American Broadway production of Hello, Dolly in 1968.He worked in television for the PBS channel. He played Easy Reader on the PBS children’s educational series The Electric Company from 1971 to 1976. Freeman made his movie debut in a children’s film “Who Says I Can’t Ride A Rainbow”.He earned good name for his work in the prison drama Brubaker. He was also praised for his regular role in the day time drama Days of Our Lives from 1982 through 1984.

Acting career Freeman played an impeccable role in the movie Street Smart which was released in the year 1987. He was nominated for the Oscars under the ‘Best supporting actor’ category. His second movie in the succeeding year was Clean and Sober. The movie Driving Miss Daisy gave him another opportunity to enter into the Oscar nominations for the second time. Morgan Freeman is such a talented actor that he can perform any role really well. His acting skills are evident in the movie Prince of Thieves which was released in the year 1991.

Through the great roles that he played, Morgan Freeman shows us that he is a great actor. He is able to interpret not only the specially created roles for African-American actors, but also any type of parts. He performs his role presenting an excellent acting talent and exquisite skills. The Prince of Thieves is a great movie exemplifying his unique talent.

Later, he shows interest into a director career and tries his chance with the movie Bopha. Anyway, as this did not present a favorable result, he accepted the role in The Shawshank Redemption, a prison drama. He also interprets great parts in movies such as Kiss the Girls, Unforgiving, Amistad or Seven and many others.

The year 2005 gave him great success. He was involved in 3 block buster movies War of the Worlds, Batman Begins and March of the Penguins. The Dark Knight in 2008 was another blockbuster. Freeman played the role of Nelson Mandela in the film Invictus. He earned a Golden Globe nod, as well as his fifth Academy Award nomination.
